Ownership and transfer
Who owns an app, how to transfer it, and why production apps should belong to a group.
Every app is owned by exactly one person or one group. The owner can do everything an editor can, and also controls who the app is shared with and can transfer it.
Transfer an app
Section titled “Transfer an app”- On the app’s Settings tab, under Transfer ownership, select Transfer.
- Pick a person or a group.
- Select Transfer ownership.
Own production apps with a group
Section titled “Own production apps with a group”An app owned by a person becomes a problem when that person leaves or changes team. Disabling their account does not stop their apps, but it leaves running services nobody can change. Transfer production apps to a group.
Groups that cannot own
Section titled “Groups that cannot own”Toft refuses some owners:
- A group whose membership comes from your identity provider. It can hold grants but not own an app. Ask your administrator for a group managed in Toft.
- A person whose account role is viewer, or a locked account.
- A group with no member who could administer the app.
When someone leaves
Section titled “When someone leaves”An administrator can transfer all of a person’s apps at once from that person’s page. Do it before deleting the account, while someone can still say which apps matter.
